Player of the Year
Daryl Thomas
300 appearances for SWPRFC
Daryl started playing for SWPRFC in the 1991/92 season. His first game was against London Irish when he tore his ankle ligaments but was swiftly rehabilitated. That was the first of 300 games in the league. At that time the "Police" were in the First Division and there were a number of players receiving International Honours. Over the years the Police have slipped to Division 5 but are still the only "Police Team" playing in the national leagues.
During his 20 year career Daryl has been on tour to Canada, South Africa and Bermuda. Daryl has represented British Police, Welsh Police and Glamorgan County.
Over his career Daryl scored a total of 627 points for the Club and this was made
up of 122 tries, 4 conversions and 3 penalties
To mark his 300th League
game Stephen Cotterell the President of South Wales Police RFC presented Daryl with
a memento. Steve said, "Daryl has been a tremendous stalwart of Police Rugby. Although
he played for Neath and Tondu when we took two years out he came back immediately
when we restarted. He could have had a career in any other first class club but
has always put SWPRFC first “
